Primitivo wine from Apulia is the wine choice of the president of the United States, Donald Trump. The most powerful man in the world has recently ordered 720 cases of wine from “Tenute Chiaromonte”, a winery located in Acquaviva delle Fonti (Apulia, South East of Italy). The wine ordered is a “Gioiese” wine, a close cousin to the more known Primitivo di Manduria.

This wine was spotted by the White House thanks to a wine tasting event organised in Los Angeles by the Acquaviva winery’s American importer.

“Among the buyers at the event – the winery owners explain – there was also a White House emissary, who ordered the 4,320 bottles the next day.”

The two Chiaromonte winery labels chosen are: the Mascherone, the Primitivo Igt Puglia and the Muro Sant’Angelo Contrada Barbatto, Primitivo doc Gioia del Colle.
