Moncaro is to increase its organic wine production to meet increasing export demand. Moncaro is one of the main wine producers in Italy, it exports around 55 per cent of its wines to Europe and Asia.
Last year Moncaro became the first Italian SME operating in the agri-food sector to issue a Minibond (€5m) guaranteed by the Institute of services for the agricultural food market (ISMEA). Moncaro’s minibond was underwritten by mutual fund Pioneer Investments through Pioneer Progetto Italia, an investment fund specialised in bond investments issued by small and medium-sized companies.
In 2016, Moncaro decided to increase its production of organic wines by adding 175 hectares of organic vineyards to the 60 already existing hectares. This will enable Moncaro to increase its yearly production of organic wines by one million bottles.
In addition to this environmentally friendly approach to wine production, Moncaro has also recently installed a solar power plant able to supply eco friendly solar electricity for up to 50 per cent of the company’s needs. Recently, the company has also increased the production of sulphite-free wines.
One of Moncaro’s strengths is constant investment in R&D and the ability to build strong partnerships with top winemakers such as Riccardo Cotarella.
This year at Vinitaly, one of the most important wine fairs in Italy, Moncaro presented award-winning sparkling wine “Madreperla”, a traditional method sparkling wine made with Verdicchio and Montepulciano grapes
Moncaro is among some of the most awarded Italian wine producers. Recently one of it’s best selling and innovative Verdicchio wines “Le Vele 2015” has been awarded the Gold Medal at the German wine competition “Mundus Vini“.
